pleasantly surprised and a giveaway

i can't believe that this quilt is FINALLY finished!!!! :) i am very excited about it. i'm pleasantly surprised because i stippled it and thought that it would really take away from the quilt and it didn't. this quilt is soooooo busy that the stippling just fades away and doesn't detract.
the back is a solid pink and of course the ever fabulous flea market fancy in pink. LOVE IT!!!

i made this purse/bag awhile back and wasn't sure what to do with it and thought maybe you guys would like a giveaway. if you are interested please leave me a comment and i would like you to answer a question. i've been thinking of having a "garage sale" with a few of my quilts. a few baby sizes and one lap size and a top. my question is would you even want to see then and hear the prices? i don't want to do the post is people aren't even interested. just because you are instersted in seeing then doesn't mean you want to buy them i'm just seeing if it's even worth the post. i will pick the winner on saturday. i don't love long giveaways.
last but not least this is a block for one of my bees. i'm only in two but they are starting to overlap and i'm starting to get confused.:) oh well. this was a log cabin and i LOVE those!:) have a GREAT day!!

  5. I'm in! I'd love to win this bag. It's a great giveaway. Thanks for the chance. And yes, I'd love to hear the prices of your quilts. I'm always curious to see how much people are selling their work for. I don't think any quilter will get as much as she should for her quilts. So much time, thought, energy and supplies. It's a shame, really.

  6. I love your string quilt! I wish mine was done already! Beautiful work!

And that bag is perfection! I would use it every day!

Your question is really hard to answer because I've wondered the same thing about my quilts. I'd love to sell them but everyone who reads my blog also quilts...and I'm not sure they'd want to buy them. I do think it's worth a post...but only if your feelings won't get hurt if no one buys them.

  7. The quilt looks awesome as does the bag. I think a garage sale would be awesome ... what if a few of us did it and swapped one quilt top for another; or a bunch of fabric for some others? We'd have to do mail and stuff but it might be worth looking into, and I'd love to do it with you!

  9. I love your string quilt. One day I will make one myself.

I think it never hurts to throw your quilts out there. You can't sell them if you don't advertise. You never know who will stumble on your blog, and you never know if someone who DOES quilt will just have to have one of your quilts. I say, give it a shot!

    Thanks for the giveaway!

The bag is adorable also and I'd love to win :)
I think a "yard sale" online would be interesting. I'm very broke, but I am always interested in seeing what other people are up to and how much they charge for their work. I say go for it! :)

  17. Your string quilt is beautiful!! That is one thing about quilting, whenever the fabric or the pattern is very busy the quilting always fades into it. The bag is really cute. As far as your quilts, I would love to see them! I couldn't tell you if I would buy them though without seeing them. In the end, I think you should post them if you want to and I think you will definitely gets some offers.

  27. The string quilt turned out so beautifully! I just love the narrow sashing you put between the blocks, and the quilting looks great.

A garage sale sounds like fun! I don't know that I'd buy anything, but I'd love to browse it all. :)

And thank you for making the lovely log cabin block! It looks awesome.

  36. I would love to see you quilt 'garage sale', but I have to admit I'd only be a lookie-loo (shipping a quilt to Canada would be prohibitively expensive) so I'm probably not the commenter you're looking for. (But I do adore looking at your work and your string quilt is to die for!)

  37. Cute bag! I'd be a lookie-loo also, even though I'd love to buy. My DH is on disability after surgery, so I can't even buy fabric. Good thing I have some projects waiting in my sewing room!

  41. Great quilt. Great bag. If you list your quilts for a sale, I think you just have to decide to take what comes and move on. It can go either way. Already, though, if you are worried what your readers think because you don't want to bother anyone, maybe just list on etsy and wait it out. I obssess over my words and can't get over myself, when really people just read and move on. I find if I list in etsy and the item stays up for a while, one day it just sells and then the buyer writes back and says how much she likes it. You just never know who wants what when! Eventually, though, the person who loves the item comes along, and everyone is happy!

I would be interested in seeing the quilts and prices, but I am not interesting in shopping. I like the ideas and seeing what people ask for their work...that is the hard part...pricing!
