out of commission

now my sewing machine is out being fixed. it's a two week turn around. who knows what i'll be able to get done by the end of the year. BUT i did think since i can't sew i can cut out the quilts that i'm going to be working on so that when i get my machine back i can go to town. i've still been working a lot so it's not like i've been down there that much lately. but it's getting to be that time of year and i want to sew! oh well. my machine will be all better when i get it back. have a great week!

  1. I hate having to bring my machine to the spa. But a well oiled machine works great! Just think of all the fabric that you will have cut and ready to sew when it gets back!

  4. i'm so sorry...i feel bad that you will be without a machine for that long. if you just NEED TO SEW, i know where you can use a juki. :)

  5. Isn't it painful not to have your machine? It gives you an opportunity to do other things (like your cutting idea), at least that's what I told myself when my machine was out being fixed. Good luck coping! :)

  7. I did a lot of cutting out of projects before I went on a quilt retreat back in July. I just cut out the pieces and put them in large zipper bags with the pattern. That way they were easy to find and work on. I only finished one top, but that was mostly due to me chattering during the retreat. There's also always hand stitching you could do. Do you like to do those wool felt applique penny rugs and such? I always think I'll be in the mood to make those in the fall and winter, but it really doesn't get cold enough. Alright, enough rambling. Don't worry, we all feel your pain!

  9. There is nothing more frustrating than an out of commission sewing machine! I am so sorry that yours is at the shop! I agree, this time of the year was made for sewing.
A disabled sewing machine on top of a disabled computer? I really feel for you!
    Have a great day!

  10. A two-week turn-around on your machine? Ouch. That seems long. You don't have any kind of a second machine? If not, how 'bout asking for a back-up for Christmas? I would feel absolutely panicky if I didn't have a second one just in case. But on the other hand, we all know how fast two weeks can fly by!
