how certain patterns even get made? i do. i have been wanting to do this quilt for about 6 months and when i read the pattern i felt like they made it more difficult than it needed to be!! so i just found the measurements and went from there. i REALLY LOVE this quilt!!! it is the wee play line. i will be making this quilt AGAIN!!!
here is a pile of scraps from my wee play quilt and was wondering if anyone wanted to do a giveaway? if you would like this little pile of scraps please leave a comment and let me know. i will pick a winner friday morning before i go out of town.
this is my last old wip!!!!!!! hip hip hooray!!!!!! now i only have new starts!!!! one i can't wait to show when i get a few more done!! i have to finish this one before july is done. that was my goal and i want to keep it!
I know what you mean about figuring out patterns sometimes. Sometimes it is just easier to figure it out on your own. I love the Wee Play line and have some, so the scraps would be a wonderful addition to my existing pile and possibly make something to go along with it. Thanks! Terrific on the WIP! Job well done!
ReplyDeleteOh these are great scraps...I'm going for a second time 'round 9 Patch with crazy mom quilts and could use some new fabric injected into my stash.
ReplyDeleteYour wee play quilt is stunning...where did you see this pattern? Yowza!!

I'm very new to your blog - but am loving it already. I love quilting and your fresh colors and ideas give me hope that I can someday think outside the box (and not follow the pattern 100%).
ReplyDeleteI would love to be in the mix for your scraps!
Very nice Wee Play quilt! I agree completely - sometimes patterns are written in such a way that you end up wasting a lot of fabric, or piecing it in a tedious way. There are a million ways to make a quilt, and some ways are just better for me than others!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the stacked coins.
I like your Wee Play quilt. It is very nice. I am addicted to scrap quilts so I would just love your scraps from this. I don't have any of them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for this chance.
oh yes...count me in. I love a giveaway. Those wee play scraps are great...thanks for sharing. the pattern looks really complicated.
ReplyDeleteI would love to have the scraps. That is such a cute fabric line.
ReplyDeleteHello, very beautiful your Wee Play quilt. I love the colours. I'd love the pile of scraps.hugs from Brasil.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE your scraps!! I am just getting into quilting and you have so many beautiful quilts that I look at for inspiration!! The next quilt I will be making is a zig-zag quilt. My son is really excited about it! I love the one you made!
ReplyDeleteI would love to have the scraps! I'm really into fabric with writing on it and that stuff is just great. Your quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks amazing! I'd love your scraps! I've got a Wee Play quilt top in the makings and would love to use some of your scraps to do something interesting on the back!
ReplyDeleteYour scraps would make a great addition! I love the way your quilt turned out! Thanks for the opportunity and for your inspiration!
ReplyDeletethis fabric lane is so cute.. I`m quite new in quilting but never followed a pattern. I just get inspiration from nice quilts and then go ahead...
ReplyDeleteThank you for offering the scrabs.
Love the fabrics, but haven't tried them yet! I have a vintage quilt that I would like to reproduce so I can use. These would be perfect as I need small bits of bright interesting fabrics. The original was 30's feed sacks with lots of That Green, read---THE ENTIRE BACK!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that quilt! Please enter me! I need more scraps to start working on a i spy for me son!!
ReplyDeleteLove your Wee play quilt and would love to add your scraps to my collection :0) .You're right about patterns. When I first started quilting, I followed patterns to a "t". Now I'll glance at it and can usually figure it out on my own.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a clue how someone comes up with a pattern, makes it, writes it down, does the measurements. NO CLUE! I mean I realize it takes math and creativity and a Quilter's FabriCalc maybe but that would not be for me!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is LOVELY! Won't it be fun to be doing only new starts soon too. :D
Both of your quilts look great. I would love your scraps. I'm doing the 2nd quilt along with crazymomquilts and could use them for that. Plus Thursday is my b-day :).
ReplyDeleteHmm...I may have to reconsider that block, too. Love the alphabets you used as your white background. Crossing my fingers for the givewaway!
ReplyDeleteLook at how perfect it all is! Maybe someday I will get my lines as straight as yours.
ReplyDeleteHow I love scraps! Please enter me. I am in the middle of a couple of quilts that use scraps and can always use more.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to be entered for the scraps. I'm trying the quilt a long of 9-patches too ... but usually I don't have scraps left.
ReplyDelete(I'm another one who loves to draw quilts on graph paper and figure out measurements)
Generally the size of my borders depends on how much fabric I have left, rounded to the nearest 1/4", so it is rare for me to have anything left but "squaring up" trimmings
Sarah
by the way ... how big are the blocks on this quilt?
ReplyDeleteME! ME! ME! I'd love your scraps! Are you going to do a tutorial on that quilt! I love that pattern! It looks like a modern double wedding ring to me!

ReplyDeleteAnn

ReplyDeleteJulianna B
I'd like to be in the drawing for the scraps too. I think they would be perfect for a nine patch or a miriad of other patterns. And one can never have too much fabric, can they? Thanks for offering, my fingers are crossed that I'll win!

ReplyDeleteIt is full of links of love!!!!! Heather, I haven't been on your blog in WAY too long! You are amazing and your new quilts are to die for!!!! When are you going to start up your etsy shop????
ReplyDeleteHeather, I love your blog. I started quilting about 3 months ago, and was in a beginner's rut until I found your blog about a week ago. Your photos and your comments demonstrate that there are so many patterns that are not as complicated as the final product looks - thanks so much for the inspiration!! Your fabric selections are spot-on every time too - I love the Wee Play! I'm an elementary teacher who loves vintage fabrics - how perfect is this collection? I would love to be in the pool for the scraps. Thanks again for sharing your ideas, talent, and enthusiasm! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with next!!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! I don't have any of these fabric yet and would love the chance to win them.
ReplyDeleteThanks~

most of the time that I get a really complex pattern, I just have to wonder what people are thinking? I mean, surely there is an easier way.
ReplyDeleteI would love to win those scraps. I love wee play. Heck, I love most moda...
I too find that sometimes patterns are made more difficult to make than the photos. Good for you to note it!
ReplyDeleteOh those scraps look so very appealing. would be fun to get them for sure....
Thanks for having a mini giveaway...
I would love to have this quilt pattern! It looks fairly easy (ie. only 1 type of block?). I would also love to have your scraps. I recently began making quilts for kids who are in the hospital through www.quiltsforkids.org. Those scraps would be perfect for a scrappy kids quilt!
ReplyDeleteI really like your work - just spent my lunch hour looking at your flickr pics. I love the irregular triangles on your flying geese baby quilt. Do you have suggestions for building up a scrap stash quickly and cheaply? I am just getting started and the scrap look appeals to me the most, but I feel like I'm breaking the bank buying fat quarters in multiple prints just to get going. Keep up the inspiring work for us newbies.
ReplyDeleteLove your quilts! Please enter me for your scraps. One can never have too many scraps can they?
ReplyDeletei love your blog - and the wee play scraps :-) thanks for sharing your great adventures in quilting with us all, i am definitly inspired by it, btw especially the wee bit quilt: it looks great and i, too, want to find out how it´s done..
ReplyDeleteI really like that block too. I made it for a block lotto a few months back and was hoping to win...which I didn't :( But, like you I can make my own. I like the background fabric you chose..very nice. I would love your scraps. I just finished a top for my next grandchild from scraps a friend gave me...I love being frugal! I don't waste anything!
