i haven't gone anywhere :)

hello again! :)  it's been awhile but i thought i'd show a few of the things i've been up to!  i took amanda's class on how to make this quilt.  LOVE IT!!  my boys pre-school teacher retired so i made it for her.
some of the ladies at the class were SO impressive with the fact that they were all about trying things.  i realized i needed to be more bold.  so i don't know if you can tell but the top pic is circles so that it looks like pebbles. this is my very FAV!!!  the bottom pic it flowers in different colors.  i need to still work on it but i really like this one also. :)
baby quilt for someone at work.
 the back:)
t-shirt quilt for a graduating senior.
my sister wanted a new quilt so here are some of this pics.  hope you can see it because i really LOVE it!!!!
there is a yellow side and green side with brown stippling.  SO PRETTY!!!  she loves it!
and a pic of the binding.  hope everyone is having a FANTASTIC summer.  we are it's just going WAY to fast!! :)

proud of my friend!!!!

i am so very proud of rita!!!!  she made this quilt for a silent auction they are having at school this weekend and it turned out SO cute!!  her kiddos are in the picture because they all made squares for the quilt!  and in the film strip quilt.  she is doing such an awesome job!  i'm just so proud of her!!!  just wanted to share this very sweet quilt with you!  it is so bright and cheery.  if my kids artwork was in this quilt i would TOTALLY want it!!

to much to do to little time :)

here is my newest project. a t-shirt quilt. not my most favorite but it is usually the person i'm making it for. :) and that's what it's all about. seeing i'm getting paid for this one i hope they LOVE it!!
we have a young gal at work ready to have a baby and so i wanted to try a pattern from one of my quilt books and i'm happy how it turned out. this pattern is called cubic rhythm from my easy quilt project book. really LOVE that book!!
and last weekend i finally started this quilt that amanda did that quilt a long for. it will be all solids. i've always wanted to try an all solids quilt. so here i go!i wish i had better lighting so you could see just how bright and fun this block really is. i'm going to try a whirlygiggle quilt that's print on print. that's VERY hard for me because i LOVE how white makes things POP! :) but this square is a good start for me. i REALLY LOVE it:) hope you are having a good week. be blessed my friends;)

scrap therapy

going through my little scrap bin is very therapeutic. plus look at the treasure i found :) it ended up in the wrong bin. a bigger scrap. this scrap bin should have pieces no bigger that 2 1/2". can you tell i learned to quilt from amanda? i LOVE scraps. she has passed that on. :) i have found some pieces that weren't even usable either. i guess i just couldn't get rid of it at the time :)
i just finished this quilt top for a gal at work who is going to have a baby. it's a girl but i though the blue and green and some brown made for a fun twist so as not to be ALL pink. :) not everyone love pink i know. :) hope you have a blessed easter!!!

ava's quilt

i'm feeling all giddy because my friend tara took pictures of my new baby quilt and i LOVE them. how sweet is this quilt on this yellow bench???
this quilt is for my sisters friend who just had a baby. little ava grace. mom is a red gal so i found those owls at the local quilt shop and put the red with them and them some! :)
i just love these pictures of a kids quilt at a school. tara is FABULOUS!!!! :)
this is the back of the quilt. i have wanted to try this kind of a back for a long time and it is really perfect for a baby quilt. this way you don't have to have seams in the back. this quilt finishes at 39" x 51". i'm pretty proud of myself for keeping it small. it was a super fun pattern and i could have just kept going. :)small. this was a super fun pattern and i could have kept going. :) i love the colors of the quilt popping off the slide!! hope you are having a GREAT week!!!

my new thing

since i really don't need another quilt - i'm going to have more pillow covers than i probably know what to do with. :) but that works because with two boys and a dog one of my three covers is usually in need of a wash!! the back is a slip cover. very handy for changing. i think i want to have a set for each season. that's only twelve. not a problem right? this way i can try some of those quilts i might want to make but in a way scaled down version.

feels good to try something new!!

i bought this fabric back in sept. maybe and sewed the border on right away knowing that i wanted to scallop the edges but was scared to death to try. amanda linked to a GREAT tutorial and ta-da i did it!!!! it was WAY easier than i thought. (i did buy the scallop template that they recommend) :) it was the best 13$ i ever spent!!! :) there's a chart that does the math for you when you buy it. saved me TONS of time! :):)
it was my first time on bias binding also and wasn't as bad as i thought. sometimes you make things worse in your head than they really are. :) i work it up to be so hard and then i actually tackle it and it's not so bad. so heres to stepping out!!! hope you have a great week! i wish that i had about a bolt of this floral fabric. i can't remember who it is. anyone know????

NO SCHOOL!!!!!!!

i don't know if we've ever seen this much water out back. if it freezes we will be able to ice skate. :)

the roads are really sloppy but not icey. i'll take the day off!!! :) my husband thinks we got a freebie today. i'm good with that! :)
i still LOVE my kitchen and love when they boys like to hang out with me. nolan loves to be comfortable. he has a couple quilts and the quilts are covering three big pillows. :) we will relax a lot today! :) hope you have a great day!

here and there

here is another wip finished! not a very great picture but here is the good news - i was talking to a friend at work today and saying how i don't take very good picture and she said she could take the pictures for my blog!!! how cool is that??? we are going to barter stuff!! I LOVE IT!!! i have this quilt hanging in our libraries little quilt show for the next few weeks. i forgot to take a picture of the back and forgot to get measurements BUT i can tell you that for the most part unless i say otherwise it's a twin size. :)

this is pattern is called triangle tango from a better homes and gardens book i have. this quilt is for our school counselor. she got an award and so i HAD to make her a quilt!!! her award was best counselor in the state of wi for elementary schools. we have the BEST!! she really is fantastic!!! i didn't use the same fabric twice - just like there are no two people alike and yet we can make it work into a lovely quilt. :) corny i know.

the back is once again just what i have around but i like the look. :) i guess you have to do what works for you. well, it's been awhile and i hope you have a great day. thanks for stopping.

i'm trying :)

i found some more blocks that were going to be a quilt that got shoved to the side (for at least two years). and because of the fabric in the block there is NO WAY i could let them go to waste. :) this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE fabric. i just LOVE this red polka dot!!! i was going to make a quilt i had done in the past with these but apparently i only made 8 of these block instead of the 12 i needed, so i improvised. it was fun trying to figure it out.

i got to use up the last big portions of this joann star fabric that i have in about every red quilt i've made. which has be A LOT. sad to see it go but it's been a good friend. i of course still have some scraps just not yardage. and here is the final product. :) it was fun to challenge myself with some triangles. i think i realized i really do like these stars and blocks together. hope you have a good day. i'm off to tournaments all day!

weekend of wips :)

well here it is . my quilt of wips and orphan blocks. i'm rather pleased with it. :) the top 8 squares were from a quilt a long on line. i never did get all the blocks back. oh well. then the tumbler section i just wanted to try and that's all i did.

the section with the twelve squares was another idea i saw online and never seemed to finish it and the last section are the poor orphan blocks that i wanted to do a quilt with - made a block and then seemed to move on. to be honest i think i really like this quilt. it's definately different - but i guess i'm different :)

the backing is from connecting threads as you can see. :) it looked a little different online but i really like it and it has all the colors in it. it was 2.96 a yard. i LOVE connecting threads. if you haven't stopped by there yet i encourage you to do so! :) have a great night!!

another wip finished!!

this is what i'm working on in my house this weekend!! trying to work on my mess which is a pile of my wips. :( but i am knocking them out! :)

here is a pillow i started working on over christmas break. it's raw edge hexigons. it's my new FAV!!! :) i just LOVE it for some reason!!!

here it is with a pillow in it. it just makes me smile for some reason.

the back is kona cotton - green grass. the back is a slip cover so i can wash it if i need to. LOVE that! :):) i think this year i'm going to make a bunch of pillows. i have three 26 x 26 pillows and i want to have a set for each month. :) this way i can try new patterns without having to make a whole quilt. i will STILL make quilts of course but some i can just try on a way smaller scale. :)

Ruby's quilt

this is another wip i found!! once i decided that i wasn't going to keep going with this quilt i knew i would give it to ruby. she's not looking at me because i'm usually shooing her off the quilts on the floor. but NOT this one!:)

the backing is a fun print i found (with amanda) at mill end. i think it was 1.29 a yard and it's decorators fabric so its a bit thicker. i think it's so sweet!!

this is the front!!! i started off with a bang with 1.5" squares so finished they are 1". but that got really old really fast!! :) so i put a bigger border on and didn't really like it - put one more small border and called it quits. it has sat in my sewing room for over a year. so sad cuz i finished it so very quickly. i think i thought i would make it bigger. i'm glad i went this route.

the finished size is 36 x 36. she likes it and that's all that matters :)

wip's

well i had to open my big mouth to amanda and say "i don't think i have that many wips. i pretty much have just worked on a quilt and finished it." what a STUPID thing to say!!! :) i got to thinking about it and started looking for quilts i've started and lookie here. 10 quilt starts with NO finishes. SOOOOOO....i have the bright idea to combine them all into one quilt. to me it will work because i seem to have the same color scheme lately. :) i need to break out of it. even though i LOVE it so very much!:) i will keep updating my progress. i'm gong to add white to the bottom pieces and might have them float a little bit. that's what i'm up to. how about you???
