question and a present

would you put these stars together without sashing? i think i'm going to but i'm unsure since the fabrics that connect are not the same. just looking for some feed back if you want to give it.
and my sweet youngest made me a pencil holder for valentines. with hot pink and orange! i LOVE the color combo and his imagination!! also i got the idea from twin fibers for my flannel quilt. i said pattern but i don't know if they came up with it but i got it from them. sorry about the confusion.:)

  1. Pretty blocks! I would put them together without sashing. They link together so nicely, creating a really pretty secondary pattern. It would still be a gorgeous quilt with sashing, however!

  3. I would also vote to not use sashing because I think the appeal of the blocks would be lost. They look great!

  5. The blocks look great without sashing and the secondary pattern in the corner of the block would be lost if you added sashing.

  7. though i don't like to personally work with sashing, i would go for it on this. i think it would set off each block really nicely

  8. I think they will be great without sashing. I can see why you feel they might not work that way. If you look at the picture you posted, the blocks all connect except for the top left one--it doesn't have that light fabric that connects the "ribbons" in all the other ones to each other. I would just make sure to keep all your star backgrounds light. then they will all connect to each other nicely. Good luck with your quilt!

  9. I'd keep them together. It makes a secondary pattern that looks really good.

  10. I like the look without sashing. I did this star pattern with scraps and love the look. Also is that fabric simple abundance, I have a layer cake and jelly roll...
