avoiding

do you ever make something else in order to avoid something else???? well, i am. the block i'm working on for a bee i'm in has got me ready to pull my hair out!!! i wanted to do it before our vacation but couldn't figure it out and now that i'm home and the month is almost out i'm really trying and not coming up with anything!!!
so i decided to make this bag.:) i'm happy with it. it's plain and simple and i plan on using it to tote things around in. meetings etc. not like i have that many but i am on pto this year and so i will have some.:) gotta have a cute bag for that.:) hope you have a GREAT day!!

  1. Hi, Heather - I've been reading your blog for a short while now and enjoying it.

Avoidance. Boy, do I know how to do that. But you know, I think sometimes it helps "solve" a problem. I have a lot of trouble deciding how to quilt a piece. If I put it up on my design wall, and work on an entirely different project, I'm frequently glancing at or thinking about that quilt up there and sooner or later (sigh, sometimes MUCH later) the quilting pattern gels and I can get on with it.

I'll bet you were thinking about your difficult block all the while you were making that great bag . . . weren't you? ;o)

  4. This is a really cute bag and I love the fabric you used!!! It will be very useful! I have taken 2 bag classes this last week and have posted pics of the result on my blog at thegoodlifeatmyhouse.blogspot.com. Come see! I know how it feels to work on something that is causing stress.....moving on to something else for awhile is the answer!!!

i know this is probably a dumb question but how do you get your squares to look so crisp and correct. if i do more complex squares (such as your swell quilt) my squares are all wonky once theyre all put together. any idea as to what i could be doing wrong??? i am starting to get really frustrated.

  6. Yes, sometimes that happens and you just have to go with it. Love the bag!

  7. @Joanna: Mine are like that, too. I think part of it is experience and practice and part of it is pressing carefully so you don't distort things and making sure your seams are not off at all.

As for this bag, I just love the fabric. Where did you get it?
