i found some more blocks that were going to be a quilt that got shoved to the side (for at least two years). and because of the fabric in the block there is NO WAY i could let them go to waste. :) this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE fabric. i just LOVE this red polka dot!!! i was going to make a quilt i had done in the past with these but apparently i only made 8 of these block instead of the 12 i needed, so i improvised. it was fun trying to figure it out.

i got to use up the last big portions of this joann star fabric that i have in about every red quilt i've made. which has be A LOT. sad to see it go but it's been a good friend. i of course still have some scraps just not yardage. and here is the final product. :) it was fun to challenge myself with some triangles. i think i realized i really do like these stars and blocks together. hope you have a good day. i'm off to tournaments all day!

weekend of wips :)

well here it is . my quilt of wips and orphan blocks. i'm rather pleased with it. :) the top 8 squares were from a quilt a long on line. i never did get all the blocks back. oh well. then the tumbler section i just wanted to try and that's all i did.

the section with the twelve squares was another idea i saw online and never seemed to finish it and the last section are the poor orphan blocks that i wanted to do a quilt with - made a block and then seemed to move on. to be honest i think i really like this quilt. it's definately different - but i guess i'm different :)

the backing is from connecting threads as you can see. :) it looked a little different online but i really like it and it has all the colors in it. it was 2.96 a yard. i LOVE connecting threads. if you haven't stopped by there yet i encourage you to do so! :) have a great night!!

this is what i'm working on in my house this weekend!! trying to work on my mess which is a pile of my wips. :( but i am knocking them out! :)

here is a pillow i started working on over christmas break. it's raw edge hexigons. it's my new FAV!!! :) i just LOVE it for some reason!!!

here it is with a pillow in it. it just makes me smile for some reason.

the back is kona cotton - green grass. the back is a slip cover so i can wash it if i need to. LOVE that! :):) i think this year i'm going to make a bunch of pillows. i have three 26 x 26 pillows and i want to have a set for each month. :) this way i can try new patterns without having to make a whole quilt. i will STILL make quilts of course but some i can just try on a way smaller scale. :)

Ruby's quilt

this is another wip i found!! once i decided that i wasn't going to keep going with this quilt i knew i would give it to ruby. she's not looking at me because i'm usually shooing her off the quilts on the floor. but NOT this one!:)

the backing is a fun print i found (with amanda) at mill end. i think it was 1.29 a yard and it's decorators fabric so its a bit thicker. i think it's so sweet!!

this is the front!!! i started off with a bang with 1.5" squares so finished they are 1". but that got really old really fast!! :) so i put a bigger border on and didn't really like it - put one more small border and called it quits. it has sat in my sewing room for over a year. so sad cuz i finished it so very quickly. i think i thought i would make it bigger. i'm glad i went this route.

the finished size is 36 x 36. she likes it and that's all that matters :)

well i had to open my big mouth to amanda and say "i don't think i have that many wips. i pretty much have just worked on a quilt and finished it." what a STUPID thing to say!!! :) i got to thinking about it and started looking for quilts i've started and lookie here. 10 quilt starts with NO finishes. SOOOOOO....i have the bright idea to combine them all into one quilt. to me it will work because i seem to have the same color scheme lately. :) i need to break out of it. even though i LOVE it so very much!:) i will keep updating my progress. i'm gong to add white to the bottom pieces and might have them float a little bit. that's what i'm up to. how about you???

i just want to say up front i thought it might be fun to change the look of my blog and i'm not sure about it. but it takes time to correct it and i don't love trying to figure stuff like that out....so until i do i guess i'm stuck with this look! :) on another not here is the progress on my hexigon quilt. i'm LOVING it. i really like the hand sewing too. (never thought i would!)

this is my sweet siter in the apron my mom made us for christmas!!! i picked out the fabric. i LOVE the apron!! i got one to but i picked out a brown floral (orange and yellow flowers) a print by alexander henry. i think. you know me and details??? ;)

i just thought this picture of my hubbie was WAY to cute!!!! that sparkle in his eyes should let you know what i deal with!:):):)

my boys who are just getting toooooo old and big!!! we had a GREAT christmas and a very NICE break!!! boys are so much fun!!

and lastly my gift to my friend caroline. she's a teacher at the school that i work at and it was fun to sneak it in and she didn't know it was from me!!! she thought it was my friend rita and rita had to say "who else quilts in this school?" "OH HEATHER" i love when people don't know its me until the tag or something like that!!!!

this was the back. that beautiful blue by jennifer paganelli. WOW you got a detail!:) and a kona grey.

i really like the chain link look. this pattern is called cracker box. it worked with gray. i'm glad i tried it!! hope you have a FABULOUS new year!!!

with traveling basketball starting i needed to have a portable quilt. i've always wanted to try my hand at hexigons and so here we go!!!! these are about 4" in size and i've decided to make a border with 5" and 6" hexigons to finish it off. i can't wait to see how this turns out. i can't wait to see how my hand sewing goes. :) this will be a fun project for those long saturdays in the gym. i will show my progress as we go. hope you have a great sunday!!!

out of my comfort zone

i usually use white as my color break but with it being winter i thought i should try something else. and i like the results of gray instead of white. it's nice to come out of that comfort zone once in awhile. :) amanda turned me on to this FABULOUS gray from connecting threads. unfortunately it was clearanced out. BUT they really have some GREAT colors and the fabric is SUPER nice! latte is my FAVORITE brown color. you should check them out. this pattern is called cracker box. i've also done a smaller version of this which is called baby crackers. i'm sorry i forget the details so often. :) i'm just so excited about the quilt colors. :) i think i might do a border on this so when the top is together i'll post! hope you have a GREAT, FABULOUS, INSPIRING day!!!

my sister and i have always said that we know it's a good gift when we want to keep it! :) i would like to keep this quilt but i'm not going to. i have a friend who i've been helping show her how to quilt. she is taking to it like a duck to water. :) if she ever starts to blog she might have the word crazy in her title too! :)

this is one of my favorite blocks. some of the last of my FABULOUS polka dots. one of the reasons that i wanted to make her a quilt is that the first three quilts she has made she has given them to other people. i did the same thing and amanda made me a quilt and i was THRILLED!!! so i thought i would keep that going. :)

this is the back. it's fabric i had and then i didn't have to go buy any. plus it matches so it worked!

binding is just a red that i used in the front. this should look very nice in her house. she has a brown leather couch and red accents. so do i thought ;) it really is more blessed to give than receive though! ;)

there IS a way. i started this quilt on monday knowing that i had to try and get it done for a surprise party today. and i DID it!!! i'm cutting it close but it's in the washer right now!:) i LOVE this quilt. i will be making one for me! :) i was on amanda's blog last saturday looking at some of her tutorials and came across this one!!! love it. you should check it out. it's called cart wheels.

i used a solid back from joanns. it's taupe. and a burnt/rusty orange solid for the binding. i'm REALLY getting into solids. connecting threads has SUPER nice solids at a very affordable price. you should check them out. :) wow i'm just sending you all over the place today!

here is just a little closer shot of some of the yummy fabrics in this quilt! these colors look like my friend and i hope she likes her 50th bday surprise party!!! :) hope you have a GREAT day and week!!!

cold weather is here...

and it is sooooooooooo much fun to quilt!!!! this is my new christmas quilt and i am ABSOLUTELY in LOVE with it. do you just ever have a quilt you LOVE??? it is all quilt shop fabric which makes it all the better in my opinion. sale quilt shop fabric.

the back is a green fabric from the line. i really liked it. this quilt shrank A LOT. i have NO idea why. i still love it though!! :) are you ready for christmas??? :)

this is a baby quilt for a lady that i worked with last year. it's very soft colors. almost too soft of colors but it's still sweet. if you can by chance zoom in i LOVE the non pieced block fabric. some of that quilt shop going out of business stuff. soooooooooo sweet! i have it in blue also and will show the baby boy quilt i made when its done.

the back it a sweet little polka dot. i really like the hot pink binding to give it a punch!! hope you are having fun quilting!!! :) have a great week!!

i'm over it

i'm over taking these 1" scraps and using them for things. i have definitely gotten my moneys worth with this fabric!!! i used these 1" scraps to make a coaster for work. it's bright and fun and if i'm having a bad day all i have to do is look at it and think sunshine and outside. :) this coaster finished about 5" squared. i though binding would be fun so i made it a little bigger. i could use a bowl on it also. :) the squares end up being a 1/2". so cute!!! but not so great to pin and work with. plus when i straight line quilted it it pulled so it's a bit wonky. oh well!!

i just used the orange polka dot on the back and called it a day and am now done with those scraps. they are in the garbage!! i've got other fabrics to wear into the ground. :) hope you have a FABULOUS day!!

what to do, what to do???

i have three quilts that i'm getting going and i don't know which one to stick with. this grey boarder one will then have a block next to it with a solid center and a white boarder. i'm wondering if i should do a white boarder on the pink and grey boarder on the solid? anyone want to have an input??? :)

this pink block is going to be cut up for a bento box square. i'm going to try and keep my squares in the same color scheme. we'll see if i can but i'm going to try. :)

and this last one i thought i'd start with a 4" square and boarder it in with 2 - 2 1/1" boarders. so then i thought i could do the opposite on the other block. 2 1/2 in the middle one 2 1/2" boarder and then a 4" boarder. well the 4" boarder ended up being a 3.25" boarder but if i use some solids in this quilt i think that it might have the affect that i'm going for. :) that would be nice. :) have a STUPENDOUS week!

well, i finished my 36 patch and just sent it off to my sister-in-law today. i think i'm going to keep one of these going all the time. i just love them!!! i did take the green row out to make it a bit smaller and because i didn't really love it in this quilt. i think it will fit a twin. it's about 68x85 or so. the actual size isn't always my biggest concern. as you can tell if you visited me before. ;) just put it this way. it's usually bigger than smaller. :)

for the backing i used what i had and it was great! there is a white stripe at the end that i didn't get in the picture. and this is my new favorite binding!! this polka dot by jennifer pagnelli or something like that. i guess i must not be a detail gal. :)

well here is the fabric i bought at my favorite store that went out of business. this isn't an up to date picture but this is the majority. i'm working on a christmas quilt with fabric from the sale so when i get some blocks done i'll share away!!! hope you have a great day!!!

new project

my favorite fabric store is going out of business (which is SUPER SAD) but i've been stash building a little and these are a few of the fabrics that i've purchased and i also bought this pattern. i REALLY liked it. i'm to embarrassed to show how much fabric i've bought. i don't need it but this shop is FABULOUS that i just have to get as much as i can before it's gone. wednesday is it's last day!! :( :( maybe i'll show what i've bought at the end of this week because i have a feeling i'll be back one more time before she closes. it's hard to pass up discounted quilt shop fabric!!! have a great weekend! i forgot to say that this pattern is called sweet sugar swirls by fig tree & co. just in case anyone might want to look for it.:)

apparently this is my motto. :) here it is my 70 1/2 x 98 size 36 patch. it's so very hard for me to stay small. i'm a couple of rows from a king size and so i'm thinking about it. I was going to give this to my sister-in-law but this is so big for a lap size. :) seeing my sister-in-law is maybe 5'2". :) she could wrap up with all four kids! :)

i doubt i want to make another king right now so maybe i take a row off and use it in the back of the quilt. hey there's an idea!!!:) the reason i did sashing was i just had to show case my patches. i just couldn't handle the print on print. i think that was probably the point of this but i just couldn't do it. sorry. :)hope you are having a great day!!!

i just couldn't wait to get started on my 36 patch assembly. all together my blocks were just tooooo much. so i decided to go a sashing route and i LOVE it. i hope my sister-in-law will also :) i am also a little addicted to patches. i just make a 16 patch and a 9 patch and am trying to figure out what to do with them. they are SO much fun!! can't wait to start seeing every ones! have a great day! :)

where we stop no one will know! :) i am in LOVE with this circle quilt!!! i love the boarder of bright circles on white. to me it helps this VERY busy quilt! :)

here is a closer look. i really need to take a photography class. :) but hopefully you get the idea. it love seeing quilts online and then putting your own spin on it. :) i learned from the best!!! :)

i just went with a solid hot pink back and LOVE that with the striped binding. i could have yards and yards and yards of that stripe!!! it's so very yummy!!!

here are the 15 - 36 patches that i worked on this week. these are so very busy i don't know if i can make them work in the quilt. i want to make a quilt for my sister-in-law so i might break some of them up. i would then make a quilt for her and for me i guess. i'll wait and see though. i might be able to make it work! :)

another fav of mine. the green has little pink ants on it. :) it's so cute!

last but not least i made a purse the other day. i just get a bee in my bonnet sometimes! it's a little purse but i really like it! :) it's fun to do a purse or a bag in the midst of quilting. :) hope you have a GREAT day!!!!

i'm behind on this but i'll get there. these are the same block just set up differently. i felt like you couldn't see the fabrics that well in the lower pic so i took another one.

this has become my new fav!! :) so crisp. i still LOVE that denise schmidt fabric. i could wallpaper my house in it!! the green, pink or orange. yum!! :)

i made a couple of pillow covers. we only have wood floors at the new house and it's a killer to sit on to long!! hard to get up the older you get. :) hope you are having a nice day!

from yardage to scraps...

remember this stack of fabric? i guess i wanted to show you its progression in my house. :) i am so glad that i learned how to quilt from amanda and that i have grabbed onto the LOVE of scraps. i feel like i have some missing pictures that would show the progression but i think you'll get the idea. :) here is the first stage of the circle raw edge quilt. you have to draw a circle onto the fabric and cut it out so you are left with the next picture...and i balled it up and threw it in the garbage. but when i thought about the next step in the process i had other ideas about this being trash.:) hopefully this makes sence!

so the next step was to cut those circles into fourths and then re-sew them together. this tutorial showed me that it's more work but you want to cut the excess fabric off of the back of the 1/4 circle (this is a picture i'm missing so the tutorial will help)which when you are done then you so and the back will look like this. well now i have all these 1/4 circle and i just CAN'T throw them away!!!! that JUST WOULDN'T be right!!!!!!! i don't think i could sleep!! so i am sewing them together and will use them on white as a boarder for this quilt. one scrap down one the go! :)when i thought about the 1/4 circle i thought SURELY i could use the scrap from the cut out circles. and so i cut out 1" squares and will make floating nine patch squares. i LOVE them. i just HATED throwing any of this fabric away. it's so cheery!!!! makes me smile.just a heads up this is trash. :):)

this is the rough draft so to speak of the quilt called round and round we go. i'm getting the rows together and it is super fun and bright and cheery!!!

so that was some fabric progession in my house. hope you use yours to the fullest also!!!

my machine is fixed and i am THRILLED!!! i'm ready to make 100 quilts :) i'm going to join amanda's 36 patch quilt along - i had to try a block so here it is. i know she hasn't given the details but i went ahead anyway. :) i'm starting to cut out my raw edge circle quilt. VERY exciting!!! LOVING the color combo. i will keep you up to date on my progress!

and i started this bag before the machine when down and was finally able to finish it yesterday! this is fabric from when i went to NY. that was 3 years ago. i was waiting for the perfect project and to me this bag was it. i LOVE it. it's got little tiny cherry's on it. it's soft and feminine. i love that!!:) hope you are having a great weekend!!!

new experiences!!!

i have never been strawberry picking and it was SO MUCH FUN!!! it was a SUPER nice patch!!!i have two dear new friends that gave me my first experience!! these strawberries are DELICIOUS!!! next year i might pick this many!:) i only got two buckets. i'm a slow picker. i picked one full basket myself and then i picked about half of my other one and my one friend picked the other half after she had picked three full ones. :)

here are some fabrics that i can't wait to get my hands on. i bought them last summer when i was at the fabric shack and i just couldn't figure out the right pattern. well i think i found it!!! that is really exciting. the hard thing is i'm having trouble with my machine AGAIN!! but even though i'm frustrated i know that i can cut out this quilt and figure some things out like the size and all that good stuff. if i knew my machine a little better i'd probably know the problem right away. i misplaced the manual (yikes!!!) and so now i have to go online and try to find the manual. i'm not good at the putzy stuff like that.

anywho - i'm going to use this pattern!!! i love the raw edges. i've only done one raw edge quilt and i gave it away. this should be fun cuz it's been awhile. i love the colors and think i will throw some white in there. i love what white does to bright colors. i think i will find some other solids also. so that's the plan even though i can't sew it yet!

because of computer issues and work (it can cramp your style :)) i've not posted in awhile so this might be rather long. ruby!! she is a honey. she loves my scrap bin. that basket was originally intended for her but she used to chew the basket part so i took it and used it for scraps. she has recently found the basket again and this is were i'll find her certain times of the day. she is too cute to me!!!
projects i've been working on:i was in the mood last weekend to make a bag. that is not usual for me. but i've had this polka dot fabric for at least a year and thought it would make a fun bag and i think it did. i love the bright handles. i quilted the outside and inside. i've never done that before but i really like the look.

this is the inside and if i really wanted to i could reverse it and use the inside as an outside. the handles would be a little weird but still do-able. it's a very fun tote bag!!

next - i finished my nieces quilt. it's the barn raising pattern with a bright twist!! she just got it and told me she loved it. i was happy to hear it. it's nerve wracking making a quilt for someone when they say oh we'll just like anything you do. what if you don't though???? everyone has different styles - doesn't mean they are wrong they just aren't yours. :)

this is the back. NEON green and a paisley boarder. it fits her twin size bed.

the most tedious project i've done in awhile. LOVE the results but there were A LOT of rows!!! :) i got the idea from aimee. thanks dear!!

for the quilting i did a straight line and just traced the patterns. LOVE how it turned out! the back was just fabric i had. i've been doing that as much as i can to try and get rid of some of this fabric that i've had for two three years now. i want more but them i think why i've got so much already. the only time i buy is when i don't have enough of the same colors to make it work.

the charity quilt. this is one of my favs!!! i love the film strip quilt. i could make 100 of these and make them all different. i have a new idea with this quilt that i'm going to try soon. amanda is the inventor of this quilt. (i think) :)

the back. once again what i had. but it worked. and i met the lady who bought it and she was so very happy. it was fun to see!

well - summer is almost here and i look forward to some more time quilting. i have a lady that i'll be working with this summer who wants to learn more about quilting. it should be VERY fun. she is staying on me to do this so i know she is really interested. i'll update you on her progress! ;) hope you are doing well. thanks for putting up with two months of projects basically. have a great day!!!

spring has sprung

i don't care what the weather is doing outside - spring has sprung in my house!! :) i'm quilting a filmstrip quilt for an auction for a charity and i'm in love with this quilt. i used as many scraps as i could but couldn't do the whole thing with scraps.

this is the layout for the quilt on the back of my chair that is in the middle of being quilted. my charity quilt has a deadline - this one doesn't. all though i plan on finishing these before the end of the month.

i hope spring has sprung in your house too!! :) no matter the weather fabric can brighten the day right?:);)

my friend bobbie is so sweet and i missed her birthday. i still don't know the date just that i missed it thanks to facebook. so i threw this together and hope she loves it. it finished at 50 1/2 x 71. i haven't made a brick quilt in so very long that is was fun and made me want to make a whole bunch because i LOVE how it turned out. i'm way into gray right now! :) do you every get stuck on a color???

keeping with the madness

i cut this quilt out yesterday and put it together this morning. it's for a friend who is going to have their third baby. she was our babysitter for years and now she is having her own.

she asked me about the alphabet fabric - i haven't told her about it yet because i'm hoping to get it to her this week to show her she won't need any! :) this fabric is super sweet. i will pin it tomorrow (i'm off to the last basketball tournament!) then i will have 2 lap size quilts pinned and 1 baby quilt ready to stipple! spring break is over so i can just let a quilt sit in the machine waiting for a few minutes here and there when i get a chance. break was good!!!!:):):)

march madness

with the start of march madness (college basketball) this weekend i thought i would join in with the madness for quilting. yesterday i cut out this quilt and sewed it together. i finished the back this morning sewed it together and pinned it now it is ready for stippling. it's for a friend whose b-day i missed.

then i made these shams to match the queen quilt i just blogged about the other day.

i liked the back because once again it's what i had. one side is blue and one side is white. it's different and fun. at least i think so.

if you get into march madness enjoy!!! we have fun with our brackets at our house. i'm winning as of this point right now. :) it won't probably last much longer so i will have fun with it. :) have a great rest of the weekend!!

here is a quilt that i made for my sister-in-laws mom. hope she likes it. i LOVE the fact that it is all scraps from my bin.

i used binding that i've had for awhile. i did have to buy backing. i don't usually have 8 yards of fabric laying around. i wish i had huge chunks of fabric for projects like this but oh well.

lastly, thank you everyone for your comments on this quilt. i didn't use sashing and i LOVE it! i'm giving it to my sister-in-law on my hubbys side. the only one i haven't made one for yet. shame on me. i hope she like it. :) i really appreciate all your comments. thanks again for stopping by. oh one last thing I CAN SEE A LOT OF OUR GRASS!!!!! how about you? :)

it's spring break here and i'm dreaming quilts. :)

these are a few stacks of fabrics that i've had for awhile that i really want to use.

i've wanted to save them for that perfect quilt. :)

now i just need to figure out what styles they are. if you are on break i hope you are having a blast with your kiddos!!! the are precious and time goes all too quickly. i will have a 13 year old at the end of the month. he was just a baby!! so this time is precious, precious, precious. if you are not on break have a FABULOUS week!!!! :)

would you put these stars together without sashing? i think i'm going to but i'm unsure since the fabrics that connect are not the same. just looking for some feed back if you want to give it.

and my sweet youngest made me a pencil holder for valentines. with hot pink and orange! i LOVE the color combo and his imagination!! also i got the idea from twin fibers for my flannel quilt. i said pattern but i don't know if they came up with it but i got it from them. sorry about the confusion.:)

all flannel

i am so glad that i tried a flannel quilt. it was WAY easier than i thought it would be. i stippled this quilt and i don't have any puckers. i'm not saying that to pat myself on the back as much as i'm surprised. i thought for SURE that it would be stretching and pulling and bunching. not so! i am so pleasantly surprised i would use flannel again. :) it is warm and snuggly.

the front, back and binding are all flannel. the back is what i had - and then some. i used some of my scraps to fill in a little section that needed filled in.

i just LOVE all these polka dots!! so fun!! this quilt is from twin fibers. their style is fun! we are starting to warm up this week so that's nice. hope it's nice by you! have a great day!!!

we are having a surprise party for my friend jane tonight an i finished her quilt last night. :) i really do LOVE this quilt and think i might make a king size one for summer!!

i got the backing at joanns and i loved it.

the binding was also from joanns and i loved it as well. they have a section that's not with all the calicos - it's almost like quilt shop stuff. this is were i tend to look now when i'm there.

see the sweet little stars? i LOVE them!! i might have to go get more of this.:) hope you have a great weekend. we are going to have a few warm day (up to 30) and then we go back into the deep freeze. :) it's pathetic when it hits 30 and you think that's warm :)

here is the barter quilt. it was soooooooooo very fun to stipple because of it's simplicity!! i like it better than i thought i would. i like it when that happens. the backing is just a simple pretty grey with a lighter grey polka dot. bound it with a green solid. i think it green grass by kona. i'm not usually good with the details of a quilt. :(

in the new house one of my frustrations is my pictures. i'm not a photographer as it is but then i don't have any light carpeting or flooring or anything. it seems like everything looks better on white. well it hit me i had some poster board and thought that i would lay the orphan blocks on the poster board to hopefully help you get a better idea of what you could get.

these first four actually 5 (the whirlygiggle has two of the same)-two were going to be for the barter quilt then i looked back at a picture of the quilt she wanted and saw that i was going in the wrong direction so i don't need them. the other two are just extras.

i started this log cabin quilt about 2 years ago. i don't see it happening.

the red and aqua square was from a tutorial and then i started three blocks for a pink and green log cabin that also won't happen and a bear paw or claw quilt that definatly won't happen. if you would like to win these 14 random block just leave a comment and i will pick a winner on wednesday night/thursday morning. have a great day!

new project

i LOVE a new project! i think that's why i love quilting so much because you can have lots of projects going on and they will be in all different stages. i love starting a new project but i also love finishing another one!! quilting is great isn't it!!! :) this is for my friend who is going to be having a birthday. she likes orange and pink together. she is a smart lady!! :) i hope all of you are having a good week. i get to work in the library this week at my school that i work at and i LOVE it!!!!

i hope she likes this!!! :) she saw amanda's and wanted one like it. it is a lot of white. i thought she was thinkin of another one and said i love white in a quilt. hope she likes it. plus i forgot to say that i got my red plus from filminthefridge. she had great style if you haven't been by her yet!!
i'm so happy we have a two hour delay!!! i will start work late!:) my boys are thrilled!!! it's a nice way to start the weekend!

here it is! it is really fun to have a quilt that actually matches my bed. i made the bed quilt about 2 years ago.

the hard thing with this new house is lighting. but i think i got enough light this time to be able to see this quilt. i just LOVE it. it's so very simple but i still love it. it's not as big as i like but when you use scraps you take what you can get.:)

the back is also everything that i had. i was going to start a red and white log cabin but then i found the plus sign quilt and went that way so i used my log cabin blocks on the back. this back was a BIG stretch for me and i'm very pleased with the randomness of it. i see these backs on blogs and think i'm going to try them and then don't. but when you don't want to go by more fabric you do what you can do!

the binding is one of my favorite fabrics. it's an older moda fabric in the american jane line. i LOVE this polka dot. i figured i've hoarded long enough it is now time to use some.:) with some of my favs it's very hard!!

ruby LOVES the snow. after every walk she has a snowy nose. she is a terrior (carin) so she is constantly snifing/searching. :) we think she is so very cute!!

i am so psyched about this plus sign quilt. i got it from filminthefridge. i'm copying a lot of her stuff right now. she has a GREAT blog!!!!! this will go on the end of my bed. i haven't had a quilt at the end of my bed that's matched since i made it. i can't wait!

i'm all about squares on point right now. these are my scraps. some with the quilt above. i'm really trying to use them up!! i'm making this for someone though. hope they like it. :)

i just wanted to post my last quilt of this year. wow!! that sounds so strange! i can't believe tomorrow is 2011. can't wait to see what the year brings! :) i enjoyed the back on this one. the front is all scraps and the back i mostly had. i am really trying to use what i have. although i have bought here and there. i bought the blue dots at joanns on sale this last week. thought they were cute. have a great weekend!!!

i finally finished my very first quilt!!! i am sooooo very happy. i started it in 2007. it is my 94th quilt. i called it the pretty quilt and i guess i still think that it is. i love the squared in look on the back of the quilt. that's what took me so long in the beginning. when i started working on this quilt friday i guess i didn't know what the big deal was. i guess some experience under your belt with king and queen size quilts and this seemed like a baby quilt.:)

i couldn't get my picture to rotate so this in the back and the bigger chunk of pink is the top. it finished at 48x64. that is a baby size to me. but it's cute!:) i just had to share that i finally finished my first quilt!!!!

i'm so happy for christmas break. i'm hanging out with the boys and relaxing. part of relaxting is quilting. this is my new favorite quilt and my favorite square.:) i wish i new the fabric line.

I think that my blogging days are probably coming to an end. When I look at the last six months or so my entries are long or sometimes short and boring. I just thought I'd show the congrats quilts that I made for a few work ladies and then my finished sewing room and a quilt I'm working on now.

This quilt is quickly becoming a favorite of mine. I saw the pattern in a magazine and just guessed on the sizes. I'm really loving the on angle thing. I'm going to scale it down for a quilt for the family. This quilt ended up being 87x87. Not typical for the size I give away but this lady took a big leap with her new position so she deserved it!:) I used her coat colors as my inspiration. It's hard to make quilts for people when you don't know what their house looks like so I go on other things. She has a pretty pink coat and then she had a yellow coat and a brown coat. And all those colors come through in this quilt.

Does this quilt look familiar? I made a double to my quilt bee quilt. Every time I looked at this quilt I thought of Natalie the lady I gave a double to. I LOVE my quilt and I think she liked hers too. These colors just reminded me of her.Next the new baskets that have organized me and I think are soooooo very cute!!! Have you heard of thirty-one bags. This is part of that. I have the color on each bin for the color of scraps and then the color is written in that color of thread. I just LOVE it. Can you see the word pink on the top bin???:)So not my area looks like this and I could sit in this room all day. (if i had the time) :(I got a bee in my bonnet last Thursday to make another 9 patch but mix it up just a bit. I only used pink, orange, green and blue colors and then the 9 patches are opposite every other one. I don't think you will be able to tell until I finish it. I did 20 9 patches on Friday, 30 on Saturday, and cut out 20 on Sunday and then sewed those 20 together yesterday. So let than a week and I have 70 9 patches. I had fun but I wouldn't recommend it. By yesterday my eyes were a bit buggy!:) Sometimes I just get something in my head though and I just HAVE to do it. I pray you all have a FABULOUS CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

sewing room update

My sister and brother-in-law are all about using what you already have in your house that you think might be worthless or you don't have vision for, and I'm glad they are! We were in the sewing room trying to figure were things should go when my sister said "Chip go see what they already have" He went out to the garage and said "Paint the cubby hole piece" That piece came out of the room and was just the orange stained wood (not my fav at all) but once painted I it I LOVE it. He is also the one to say "Paint it and then display you fabric" I just love when people have vision and can see things. Now I only have one more update to this room. I have cute monogramed bins for my fabric sscraps coming. Super Cute!! I'm almost finished with the congrats quilt and then I only have to try and squeeze about 4-5 more out before the end of the year. :):) I guess I'll see about that! Have a great week!

these are two block that i'm going to use for a congrats quit for someone. one was an orphan block from my quilt bee and one i made today. i got caught up on my bee blocks (phew!!!) and was able to make one for this quilt. it is 16.5" and i will border it with white. i LOVE that look! this is twice in one week i think that i've posted!! stand back i'm going crazy:) hope you are having a great weekend. i was able to relax this weekend. VERY nice!!!:)

these are my new concrete countertops. they are beautiful!:) these are some barstools that i found on the side of the road and i thought that they'd be good in our new house.

and here is what they look like now. a little fabric and some spray paint go a long way! one of these days i'm going to be able to get back to some quilting. hope you are doing well!!!!:)

it's been awhile again so i feel like i need to say hi!:)
this is my free fabric from the garage sale. minus the greens i thought i just might make a valentines quilt this year

look at all of this fabric!!!! the front stack is flat folds which for me is two yards or more. i think there are probably 9 of those! and the stack in the back are a bunch of fun too! not all of it is my taste but some will stretch me and some will be the backs of bags or inside of things not seen because i don't dislike anyone that much!;) that just means that some of it is really ugly! but not much! it was very fun to go though!

my nephew picked this out at the garage sale and asked if he could have a quilt and a pillow. i thought his color choice was GREAT and very fun. i told him nice job!! he is a honey!

lastly my younger son likes DUKE so i made him a duke quilt. i put the D in the middle (hopefully you can tell) and then just did random around it and boardered it in. he LOVES is which is so much fun. i guess i will have to take pictures of my older sons quilt. i have been busy with the house that i forgot to photograph two quilts. and one i've already given away. oops. oh well. we should be moving in in another couple weeks!!! it will feel good to feel settled again!! hope you have a great day!!

my sister went to a garage sale and i couldn't believe her finds. you could buy fabric by the pound.

not just cheap fabric but- moda, amy butler and other kinds. i got yardage of amy butlers charm line. it's very pretty. what was fun is my sister picked it out. so it's fun to work with stuff someone else picks out.

this is a bunch of scraps she got for free!! i had a LOT of fun sorting them. plus my sister called to tell me that my name was chosen in the drawing to win the extra fabric that didn't sell. i'm going to be getting what they thought would be 45 yards of fabric. can you believe it???? i will show it to you when i get it. the house is coming along nicely and we are off again for a relaxing few days!!!!! i'm done with my painting now so i feel like i will be able to soak up the sun and enjoy family!!:) hope you are having a FANTASIC day!!!

i just finished my other nephews quilt. i quite like it!!! i had stamp fabric that was the reason for this quilt.

the backing i used was something my mom gave me that my sister like so that worked out nicely. it's a black and blue ticking.

just used a solid blue for the binding and washed it up and will give it to him this week.

i don't know if you can tell the color of this wall but this is going to be my sewing room in my new house. it's called rainwater. (martha stewart) i LOVE it!!!!!! very soothing. our house is coming along nicely. all the painting that i can do for now is done!! it feels GOOD!!! we leave for ohio on friday and i CAN'T WAIT!!!! fabric shack here i come!!! i won't have to think about the house for two weeks!!! :) i just finished my second quilt to bind in the car. a queen size and twin size. one is my son's and one is a wedding gift for when i get back. lots going on!! it's all good. hope you are doing well!!:)

june started with a bang!! we are getting a house ready to move into. this is major work. the house needs LOTS of tlc!!!! so in this post there are pictures of my torn up house and quilts. :) i finished 5 this month but don't have all of them shown. in between painting ceilings, getting walls ready to paint and then painting and then mudding other walls and prepping them i did enjoy some quilting. that's only the stuff i can do too! these pictures show you only what is being torn down/apart and then put back together again. :) when things start to get more done i'll show a few more updates. it's been awhile so i hope everyone is enjoying their summer and all is well. new quilting room. i got two more feet added to it so it's going to be a little bigger.

i wrote up a blog on this quilt top over the weekend and then posted it and then hit the view button (as always) to make sure all was well and i posted it on one of my quilting bee blogs. :( tried to post back on this blog and it wouldn't let me get my pictures. UGGG!!!

this is for my mother-in-law. i just finished quilting it today and will start the binding tonight. i only have to work thurday and then my in-laws come in. i'm ready for some fun!!!! linda(mother-in-law) and i will shop till we drop. we have a BLAST!!! my husband and father-in-law will golf till they drop. i'm so ready for school to be out!! i am VERY thankful for all the work i had this year though.:)

hopefully i will be able to show some more of my projects now. i see how hard it is for working moms and dad's to blog now. :) have a FANTASTIC day!!!

my very first quilt along quilt!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! hopefully you can see it! they are wonky log cabin blocks. everyone did such a great job!!! loved everyones style! it is so much fun to have other peoples styles in your quilt!

i LOVE this binding and backing. joanns if you can believe it! i got the last of the green and enough of the stripe to use again.:) lastly these are a sister-in-laws b-day curtains. hope she like them. i already made spring/summer curtains so i thought i would make fall/winter for her b-day. hope everyone is doing well!!!

another baby quilt!! i don't feel like i can get away from these. i feel like i need to do something BIG!!!! :):) i have a friend whose daughter is due at the end of this month so i wipped this up sat, sun and mon. it sure is bright but i like it. it's all fabric that i had which i LOVE!!!

the back is chambray and the red star binding. it's a fun baby quilt!!

hope chambray is spelled right otherwise my critic reader will correct me and tell me how dumb she thinks i am and that i'm better than that. to be honest i'm not better than that because i usually post quickly now a days.:)

like seeing an old friend...

my issue with my machine was a tention issue and it is completely fine now. it's like seeing and old friend that you haven't seen for awhile. you just want to send as much time as you can with them. sad i know but i haven't really quilted for a month and a half almost two months. that's a lifetime for someone like me! :) so i was able to finish my friend's baby quilt.

the stippling went great!!! when you haven't done it for awhile it seems strange at first. then you pick it right up again.

the binding is a GREAT stripe! i just LOVE it!!

these are fabrics that she already used (i added a few) but she already had the basic color scheme. she loved it! i think today i'm going to work on making some totes for some teachers. i'm just so happy to have the day off that i can do some sewing. have a FABULOUS day!!!

way toooooooo long

it has been tooooooo long since i've posted. i've been working a lot and then spring break and no machine until now.

the guy couldn't find anything wrong with it after two and a half weeks so i just went and got it. it's okay. i'm having bobbin issues. very frustrating!!!!! but it's getting better.

these are two blocks from some bees i'm in and i'm starting to work on some other things. hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

well i was in the beginning stages of stippling when my machine went crazy and it's getting fixed again. this is a baby quilt for a friend that her show was on sunday. i gave her a picture of the quilt in progress and a little outfit. :) i should have taken a picture of that. SO CUTE!!! this is one of the oh frasson blocks just by itself. i REALLY like this block. it would be great with some solids or solids to break up patterns.

i'm so glad that i finished a february block before my machine started having problems. it's getting fixed right now and i have plenty of time to do my march blocks. phew!!:)

i forgot to take a picture of my orange shoes that are the reason for this plaque. i LOVE it. and i LOVE shoes!!! :) one of these days i'll remember to take a pic of them. hope you have a GREAT rest of the week!

quilts for friends

this is lemon drops finished. i made this for my friend kathi. she just recently got a job and i thought i remember her saying she liked yellow and so i made her a quilt.

i used some katie jump rope fabric as the binding and LOVE it. this is very soft on the eyes. i do LOVE bright but this is a fun change.

i'm a geek and i love it!! :) i made the card to match. i was able to give it to her saturday and she liked it!!

this was for my friend jody who also got a job recently and i was so happy for her. they are both working at the same school in the same area. she liked her quilt also. it can be very difficult making quilts for people that you don't really know what there style is in there house. although, barely any of my quilts match my decor but some people want everything to match. me - not so much.

for the back i used two fabrics that i already had a green and an orange ginham.

i used a solid orange on the binding...

and i made a card to match again. :) i'm now working on a baby quilt for a shower i have this sunday. i better get cracking. what are you up to???

while i've been working

i have still been able to finish some things up and start some new things. this is a red and aqua quilt for my niece jessica. i told her i would make it for her months ago and i finally finished it. hope she liked it!

i pieced the back together with what i have so not to buy any fabric that i don't need!! :) i guess i'm going to use those cherries till the very last little bit!

the binding is also fabric that i've had for quite awhile. brought yards and yards of it but am now using it so that's good.

i know i wasn't going to show sneek peeks but oh well. this is all from scraps and i got the idea from amanda. she used different colors i stayed in the same color because i have someone in mind for this quilt called lemon drops. :) very fresh and clean!!! i really like it!

and here are a couple bags i made for a couple ladies i've been working with. they happened to comment on a bag of mine so i made them one. they are a little older and were SOOOOO sweet about getting a bag. it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun to GIVE!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

i really am in LOVE with this quilt! it is my hubby's new favorite!! he loves the bold and bright like i do! :) i did a simple straight line quilting on this and LOVED it. it's nice to do something different every once in awhile. i sure do wish i was a better photographer.

i don't know it you can see the pattern (from quilting) on the back - it is sooooo fun!!

i tried to take a bigger picture of it but i don't think that you can see it. but the back is fun and it was a duvet that i bought at a second hand store for 6$. it was queen size and it has made two backs for me. the other one went on the oh cherry oh quilt.

i used some of my last bit of katie jump rope. i have just a bit left to go in a star quilt i started last year that i did carry over into this year. this quilt was supposed to be square but i didn't want a square quilt so i took two rows off from each side. to me it worked and i was happy!!! hope you have a great day!!

this is ruby my sweetheart! she LOVES when i pin a quilt. she thinks she's a helper. :) i just loved this picture! this quilt is being straight lined quilted right now. i'm going to try something new this year. i probably won't show my quilts until they are done. we'll see but i think last year i showed so much of them before hand that by the time i finished it was like who cares!! FINALLY!! :)

this is a purse/bag for the last birthday in january. my sister-in-law julie. i hope she likes this. i wanted to keep it but that's how i know it's a good gift! :)

i liked the stripe fabric so i got a close up so you could see the handle. oh ah!

wednesday night at church a friend asked me if i had finished the baby quilt i was making for her. i thought "oh snap" i hadn't even started it. luckily it's baby size and i got it to the point of being pinned and starting to stipple it by thursday night.

i love the sweetness of this quilt. i don't know if you can see the little duckies but i just LOVE them!

plus, sweet little bunnies.

the back is yellow ginham and an amy butler binding. a nice little punch! i LOVE this quilt. i am such a BOLD and BUSY kind of quilt person that this soft and subtle quilt is nice for a change. hope you have a FANTASTIC weekend. i'm going to be working A LOT these next few weeks so i'll see what i can get done at night. :)

that is the name of this pattern. (even though i didn't follow it all the way) i LOVE this quilt. probably i LOVE the fabric i used in this quilt which makes me LOVE this quilt.

the backing is my pottery barn duvet that i knew i wouldn't use anymore. it's soft and WONDERFUL!!!! so very pretty to me!!

and how can you go wrong with flea market fancy fabric????? i LOVE that pink!!! i still have about a half a yard left and i think i will now start to savor it some. it's VERY hard for me to run out of the fabrics i LOVE.

this is the tester quilt top that i did for amandajean. she wrote a pattern and i tested it for here to make sure all was well. i was in a red, white, and blue phase. this quilt top measures 60x75. with a boarder it could fit a twin bed. this is $25. SOLDthis is a baby blanket in the flying geese pattern. it measures 32x37.5. it is in pinks and greens. this is $45. SOLD this is the fresh squeezed i just finished. it's bright and bold and i love it but it does need a home to someone who likes bright and bold. it measures 40x50 3/4. this is $75.this is one of amandajeans quilt alongs. i do like this quilt but i keep making pink quilts with no girls. i like the traditional look with more modernish fabric. i realize that modernish is not a word. :) it measures 67.5 x 67.5 . this is $135.this red and yellow quilt measures 56 x 78.5. i put if over my sons twin and it fit. as long as you have a footboard. this is $150.this hourglass quilt was the first quilt my husband told me was beautiful. since then his new favorite is the string quilt. this quilt measures 53 x 64.5. this is $100.i wasn't sure if i would post this wildlife quilt but i'm going to. if you like wildlife or hunting this is a good (little) quilt. maybe for a kid or if you really love your hunting dog. :) not sure. this quilt measures 34 x 38.5. this is $25. SOLD last but not least. this was going to be the back to my first swell quilt. it you are looking for a back that's already put together here you go. it measures 73.5 x 87. this is $35. SOLD

pleasantly surprised and a giveaway

i can't believe that this quilt is FINALLY finished!!!! :) i am very excited about it. i'm pleasantly surprised because i stippled it and thought that it would really take away from the quilt and it didn't. this quilt is soooooo busy that the stippling just fades away and doesn't detract.

the back is a solid pink and of course the ever fabulous flea market fancy in pink. LOVE IT!!!

i made this purse/bag awhile back and wasn't sure what to do with it and thought maybe you guys would like a giveaway. if you are interested please leave me a comment and i would like you to answer a question. i've been thinking of having a "garage sale" with a few of my quilts. a few baby sizes and one lap size and a top. my question is would you even want to see then and hear the prices? i don't want to do the post is people aren't even interested. just because you are instersted in seeing then doesn't mean you want to buy them i'm just seeing if it's even worth the post. i will pick the winner on saturday. i don't love long giveaways.

well on friday as everyone is making new years resolutins i decided to make one (of many). it was to be better about sending birthday cards to family member and maybe to mine and my husbands siblings a gift. so friday i looked at a list that i have for b-days and my sister-in-laws birthday is the 11th. she is VERY good to us and the boys and i remembered that i bought this fat quarter at fabric shack just for her this summer. she loves tea and still literally throws tea parties still. so friday i started figuring out block sizes ...

by saturday i had the top put together and on sunday i laid it out. monday i stippled and today i finished the binding. it's in the dryer as we speak. my goal was to get it in the mail by tomorrow. mission accomplished. it feels so good. when i put my mind to it i can work very fast. 5 days from start to finish is fun to say! :)

i just used parchement for the backing and a fun polka dot for the binding.

now to address a very sad for us but for her happy thing. i haven't been on like much and just found out the amandajean isn't going to blog anymore. it's so crazy because i was going to to a post about her to thank her for ALL that she does for us blogger. i just still might. i just want to say thank you to her because she did show me how to quilt and i LOVE it. she will be missed with all her inspiration but i'm glad she is doing something for herself!! be blessed in whatever you do my friend!!!

i'm trying to get as many wips done from this year as possible. this is my second 9 patch. this took me awhile because i definately didn't like it as much as my first!! oh well.

but this our weather cold up here this freshed squeezed quilt has really brightend thing up!!

i used up as much of this fabric line that i had. i think i have a half yard left. it will go with other lines though.

i used orange thread which was REALLY fun to work with. and i LOVE the binding. this quilt needs to go to the right person. someone who LOVES bold colors!!! :)

lastly, i'm in the process of stippling my string quilt and then i'm ready to pin my pink and orange quilt. i'm feeling pretty good about going into next year. i have so few wips!! i still have some but not as many! :) and yes, i did say i was stippling the string quilt. boring i know but i practiced some other techniques and i just don't have the hang of it yet and believe it or not i think stippling with be okay on this! well at least i'm hoping so! hope you had a GREAT Christmas and have a happy new years!! :)

saturday fun

i was online this morning and came across this quilt and thought it would be fun to do so i did. this afternoon. i got to use all my reds and greens to make a christmas quilt.

i am going to put a boarder on it and i think this is what i'm going to use. it will just be a lap size but that's good for me!!

and i got this quilt top put together and boarders on so that the binding will be seen. i'm LOVING this quilt also. man i love pink! :) hope everyone has a GREAT rest of the weekend!

this is one of my wips to try and get done this year. i will let you know that it's not going to happen. i might get the top together and i have a back for it but i still haven't got any more batting and i have two to quilt my string quilt that needs batting and now this one. you never know once christmas break is here. this will be one of my last pink with another color for awhile. i didn't blog much about this quilt but i switched it around last minute. it was supposed to have A LOT more stuff going on but i chose to redesign it so to speak. i like it. hope you are having a FANTASTIC weekend!!

oh the weather outside is frightful

We have a day off of school and we are pretty happy about it. Ruby is on neighborhood watch! :) We only got 3-5 inches of snow but the wind is horrible!!! It's quite cold out there.

We cleaned the boys room (which was a DISASTER!) Now their reward is some game time. Mine is a bath! :) And some quilt time later. Which if anyone has a suggestion for me on how to quilt my string quilt I would LOVE ALL suggestions. I ran out of batting also so I'm going to just get fronts and backs going so when I get the batting I can sandwich them.

This was my day to decorate the teachers lounge at school and have snacks for them. I will just do it tomorrow. I just really LOVE that snowman bowl and all the other christmas stuff. The box in the back is a bunch of ornaments. They get to take one if they like. We LOVE our teachers and ALL the work they do!! Hope you have a great day whatever it is you are doing. I might do some more baking. If the mood strikes! :)

one turtorial for string quilts

one of the many reasons i love this quilt is because you get to use ALL kinds of scraps!!! :) i seem to aquire ALL kinds of paper around my house because i have two in school. lucky for me this year i have a 6th grader and they don't have as much paper coming in.i cut the 8.5 x11 piece of paper to an 8.5" square. you can make it as big or little as you like depending on the size paper you have. in my opinion the bigger the better because this is an intense project that will go on for at least a few months.

for this tutorial i made my white strip 2". and i would do that again for the next string quilt. it will show off the fabric more. (i think) then you just lightly glue it on the diagonal to the paper.

get a scrap and put it face down on one side of the white strip and sew 1/4" seam.

then iron the fabric back.

continue doing this on both side until your square is full. you need to sew then iron, sew then iron and so on.

when you are done you square should look like this with the extras on each side.

flip it over...

and start cutting off the excess in line with the paper.

when you are done you now need to rip the paper off the back of the square. if will seem like it is perferated so it's not so bad. fold it back and then rip it off.

continue to do this until all the paper is peeled off.

when you are done you have a fabulous square. :) (that's my opinion) :) now i'm not really a teacher but a few of you asked how to do this and i thought i would put my two cents out there. if something wasn't clear let me know and i will do my best to explain it better.

car projects

here are a few of my car projects, i tore paper off six of my string quilt squares. i only have 14 more to go and i was working on those today. won't be long and i will hopefully finish that quilt!

i also finished the binding on the baby quilt that i was supposed to have done by october 25th. she knows that i've been working on it though!!

i worked on my knitting. this is just going to be a baby blanket. i don't know for who yet. but we have about 5 or 6 more babies to go at our church. :)

my mother-in-law wanted to learn how to knit...i ended up doing it for her. we were cracking up how she kept holding the needles. i don't think i'm a very good teacher either though. so there is her scarf.

lastly my nephew taught me how to crochet and i'm very slow at it but it's fun for something different. i'm just starting with a wash rag. then maybe i will go for something bigger? who knows.
here are some of my finds from the fabric shack. this is yardage. they have a table that is 2.98 a yard and you have to buy the full piece. some of my pieces are a 1/4 yard and some of my pieces are a yard and some are in between. i have some amy butler, michael miller other moda it's going to be soooooo much fun to work with!

this is robert kauffman and it's one of my faves!!!! this is a fat quarter even though it was on the sale table.

here are some very random fat quarters. i was THRILLED to find more of that red polka dot!!!

this is going to be a GREAT quilt!!!!! i can't wait to work with this pile!!!

and these two stacks are from my sister-in-law for my birthday. they are flannels and i can't wait to work with them. one is fall and one is winter with snowmen on it. they are so very cute!! i don't want to start any new projects until i finish all that i have started but this fabric is making it very hard for me. i think i have about 7 or 8 wips so i'm going to do my best to get them done before the new year. we'll see....... :)

i'm sooooooooooo very excited!!!!!! i'm back up and running!!! my father-in-law is a ROCK STAR!!!!!! he got us up and going!!!
these are the blocks for our november quilting bee. i had fun with these fabrics!! hope she likes them! you know me nervous nelly! :)

this is october's block and i'm VERY nervous about this one. and once again i'm sooooooo very sorry it was sooooooo late!!

one of the projects i did in my down time without a sewing machine was paint my kitchen. the color is spanish olive and i LOVE it. this is not a great picture of the color because it looks a bit yellowish but it's brighter and i LOVE it. (obviously i wasn't working on my in basket!! :) oh well.

lastly, we are in ohio for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary!! that's my husband giving a very sweet speach about is parents. he is one of six. i was SO VERY PROUD of him!!! it was a GREAT night!!! so now that i'm up and running i really will have a giveaway! i'm going to be going to fabric shack while i'm here so stay tuned!!!! :)

i just wanted to give a quick heads up!! I'M BACK!!!! i haven't had my sewing machine for three 1/2 weeks. i just got it back on Saturday afternoon!!!!! i finished a baby quilt that we had the shower for in October and I'm trying to get my quilting bee blocks done. with not having a the machine working i didn't do Octobers and now we are onto Novembers and Decembers is coming. i'm way behind but plan on catching up TODAY!! still on a different computer so no pictures yet BUT my husband tells me we are getting fixed when we are in Ohio this next week. so my guess is the next post might not have to many words and a lot of pictures!!! :):) lets hope!!! have a FANTASTIC day!!!!!

now my sewing machine is out being fixed. it's a two week turn around. who knows what i'll be able to get done by the end of the year. BUT i did think since i can't sew i can cut out the quilts that i'm going to be working on so that when i get my machine back i can go to town. i've still been working a lot so it's not like i've been down there that much lately. but it's getting to be that time of year and i want to sew! oh well. my machine will be all better when i get it back. have a great week!

i am having problems with my computer. i want to SCREAM!!!! but instead i'm going to be patient and i will eventually somehow get it fixed and then i can resume. so picture in your mind my string quilt. i only have 20 blocks left to do!!!! i need to sandwich my second nine patch. i've got a new blue stacked coins baby quilt i need to finish by October 25th. that was to only thing (quilt) i've started. my goal is to finish what i've started by the end of the year so i can start fresh in the new year.

i've been subbing a lot so my quilting time is WAY down. but extra money is nice too! :)

i'm hoping that this computer business is fixed soon because i'd like to have a giveaway!!!

this is the only quilt i finished this month. my in-laws can take this to my niece and then i won't have to ship it which is nice. the fold mark is bugging me but oh well. you get the jist. :)

the back is fun to me. that stripe is in the middle. this will fit a twin size bed. my mother in-law said that this should match the room REALLY well and that lilly should like it. hope so!! it was very fun working with pinks and greens. hope you have a great day!! :)

fresh squeezed

i am only going to finish one quilt this month...so to make me feel better i started a new one with the fresh squeezed line. it's a little overcast out today so the bright cheery fabric makes up for the clouds.
i will be finishing a quilt tonight or tomorrow sometime and will post then! my in -laws are coming in tonight for a few days!!!!! :) i LOVE when they come!! :)

i've just had a lot going on. it's been a busy and sad couple of weeks around our house. i'm on pto this year at the school and we have a function coming up on friday that i've been working on. last saturday our church had their carnival that i help with. big to do. and lastly and hardest thing was i had to take peter parker my cat to the humane society on the 10th. boy that was HARD!!!!!!! i cried A LOT!!!! he was to stressed with ruby and i couldn't see him sick anymore.

but on a better note i was at target yesterday and found these sheets that i thought went well with my quilt. they are 400 thread count, king size and they were only 37$. i LOVE target. i don't always have sheets that match because i get cheap when it comes to things like that. but i can NO longer sleep on nubby sheets. does anyone else know about nubby sheets. i can't stand them!! :)

i am working on things - i just have to get through this weekend and maybe i'll get a few things done and share them!:) have a FANTASTIC day!!

i just couldn't help it. i saw these pinks and greens and couldn't help starting a new project. why? who knows. :) i haven't done a log cabin in a LONG time and i just LOVE this look and the colors.

i am also working on my 9 patch. i found more scraps of my fabric and so i think i'm going to be able to make it bigger than i thought. i really don't like messing with sashing so i'm boxing them in as i go. origanally i wasn't going to use sashing but i didn't want to match up all those seams so i reconsidered! :) hope you had a great holiday weekend. have a great day!

i got the fabric for my quilting bee yesterday and here is what i came up with today. she wanted a star in it somewhere and i really like these stars. i have a blue and green quilt started with these stars. she also wanted some of all the fabrics sent in the block (check), star (check), 10.5 x 10.5 (check) the only thing i'm not ready to check about is the randomness. i need to get better at that. hope you have a nice saturday!!:)

i'm not working on a lot but i am still working a little. i just can't seem to get back into the sewing thing. this is a pillow sham that i finished for a friend. finally. actually there is another one i just didn't picture it. i helped her make a quilt and now i'm doing the shams.

this is the newest quilt i've started. i have a neice who liked this quilt and i said i would love to make it for her. her room is in pinks and greens!!!! i am really going to LOVE this quilt. i don't know how easily i'll be able to give it up!:) what are you up to????

this is my block. no turning back. i put the red circle in the corner and i'm going to see if my mom has a serger and i could serger it real quick. i just wanted to give the idea of what i was doing. this block is crazy!!!! i don't do circles yet so this has been a WAY bigger stretch than i wanted but it's done!:) i'm cracking up though that this is what i came up with and it took me ALL month. usually i finish these in a few days. NOT this time.:) stretching is good i know this - i just don't love it.

do you ever make something else in order to avoid something else???? well, i am. the block i'm working on for a bee i'm in has got me ready to pull my hair out!!! i wanted to do it before our vacation but couldn't figure it out and now that i'm home and the month is almost out i'm really trying and not coming up with anything!!!
so i decided to make this bag.:) i'm happy with it. it's plain and simple and i plan on using it to tote things around in. meetings etc. not like i have that many but i am on pto this year and so i will have some.:) gotta have a cute bag for that.:) hope you have a GREAT day!!

we got to play with a raccoon today!!! he is SOOOOOOOOOOOO cute!!!!!

i finally was brave enough to pick him up and if you blow on him he gives kisses.

this might be our next christmas card. the boys had SOOOOOOOOOO much fun!!! the raccoon is very good with the boys.

he almost seems like he would be a stuffed animal. this is my brother-in-law. my husband's brother. my hubby would NEVER be this close to a raccoon!! rocky is VERY sweet!!!:) hope you have a great day!

here are some of my buys today at the fabric shack. i found this on the 1/2 off rack. it looked like this top picture all wrapped but this is what was in it!!

i got a layer cake a pattern and then yardage in fabric!!!! it was only 32$. you can't beat that!!!!!

this is more sale rack stuff. they have a rack that is 2.98 a yard and you have to buy the whole piece. the two left ones were a yard and then a little over a have yard. the right side ones were not even 1/4 yards. that's fine though because you get a pinch of fabric to throw in with other things.

this is the only yardage i bought that wasn't on sale. i LOVED it. it's a lime green but because i'm not a photographer you can't tell. and then the esspresso brown under will be the inside or handle or both.

LOVED this one too! it's a fat quarter and i can't seem to cut it so i'm going to make a pillow out of it. i LOVED the map. they didn't have anymore yardage otherwise i would have bought A LOT!

getting things done

i finished this one in the car on sunday but i've finally washed them and they are completely ready to go.

i really like the back of this one! i might save this for a far away day of when i have grandkids. that's how much i LOVE this one. we'll see. :)

fun ruler binding.

i debated about showing the quilts again because it seems like i show them when they are in progress and then together and then done. seems like too much sumtimes.

these are ready for the new homes.

the back was a polka dot that i got from mill end about a year ago. man it feels so good to use things.

i think it's fun to have a picture of a stack of quilts.

the last fun thing was that extreme home makeover was working on a house about 5 minutes from my in-laws and we went to see it. it was amazing to see all the work that was going on and all the people working there and helping out. i love that show and can't wait to see it! it really is unbelievable HOW many people work to help someone out.
