weird or good???

This weekend I tried a new block with different colors and I can't tell if I like them or not. Are they good or strange???
I don't really know what made me think to put a little square in the middle of strips.

If you have any feedback let me know.l Even if you don't like them let me know I'm curious.
I just finished the hockey jersey quilt so I will post a few pictures this week.:) Have a great day!

  4. I like them a lot! Not sure, but I think one thing that makes them really good is the tonal, or only 2 colors per block. The square in the middle makes them great.

  10. I really like it! It makes you give it a second long look and really notice the pretty fabrics. I'll bet it's also good for using up scraps too?

(That blue and red one really pops)

Besides, isn't this how quilt blocks happen? Traditions have to start somewhere.

  11. LOVE it. Looks great in turq and red and is a nice break/change from the traditional Log Cabin styles/9-patch.
considering pinching the block layout for my next project!!

  12. Both!!! (Please understand that I believe weird IS good).
Put them all together (especially with the white borders) and they'll look amazing!!!

  13. I agree. Definitely good. I agree too, that what makes them work is that they are one or two colors. I like the block in the middle. If I were allowed to start a new project, this would be a great one to use up more of my ridiculous scrap pile. Looks great.

Maybe you can try to put the square in white, show us if you do it. But maybe it will be a little woring... I don't know.
The combination of two tones in one block is fantastic. I love the pink and green one. Perfect.

  20. I like the top one and the bottom one, but the off-centerness of the middle one does not appeal to me. At least I think that's what I don't like about the middle one, but I think it is a creative style, and all that matters is if you like them!

  24. I vote for good; they don't look weird at all to me. Actually think it's really cool, as it's kind of an efficient faux-log cabin, and I agree the square really pulls your eye into the block. Not too crazy about the white borders in the stand-alone blocks, but I'm guessing the blocks will look pretty cool floating in a sea of white in the eventual top, assuming a pleasing ratio of block to sashing/borders. What a cool original idea, and I'm definitely going to try it out myself!
